Nymph Noir -and- Veil of the Harbour

Two Novellas

Nymph Noir: The Hollowing of Eden

In the lantern-dim hush of a village parlor, Thema paints confidence onto women who have learned to survive by being seen-each brushstroke a quiet spell, each shimmer a promise that belief can be worn like armor. Yet beneath perfume and pigment, copper begins to breathe through the air, and Ashantee arrives with dream-visions of a sanctuary dying from within-its roots corroded by the Copper Tyrant.

Drawn back to the forest that hides her true nature, Thema must defend it without betraying her pacifism, forging uneasy alliances with other strange beings such as a dreamy fungal mind that bargains in spores and a decadent nightmare-predator whose help tastes like temptation.

When the chimeric angel Bellanthiel demands that Thema destroy her sacred pigments and repent for her defiance, the artist's mercy turns to resolve.

As her bond with Ashantee deepens into something both tender and perilous, the blight spreads beyond the trees to the truth of her creation, forcing her to choose what kind of beauty can survive a war between corruption and faith-and what it will cost to keep Eden from becoming something else.

Veil of the Harbour

In 1856 Nagasaki, the harbour glitters like a knife-edge between empires.

Minato Miura, famed courtesan and ice-wind mage, walks its teahouses and decks as both ornament and weapon; Sabrina Timberlake, an English privateer who has run out of patience for pretending, sees in Minato the first honest mirror of her own forbidden hunger.

Between them stands Sabrina's brother Robert-a seawater wizard and telekinetic officer whose brittle righteousness hides a storm of fear, desire, and control-determined to claim the sea, his crew, and his sister's future as his by right.

What begins as a collision in lacquered rooms and candlelit beds soon spills into open water: frigates duelling through sleet and cannon-smoke, ice and tide wrestling for dominion, and kisses that taste like mutiny as lovers choose each other over the empire that owns them.

As Robert's hypocrisy curdles into cruelty and the noose of colonial power tightens, Minato and Sabrina wager body, magic, and soul against a man who would rather see them frozen on a ridge than free at sea-until death itself breaks, the Yuki Onna rises from the blizzard in Sabrina's colours, and love becomes both haunting and harbour, a legend whispered wherever snow falls on black, remembering water.
