Having a Positive Mindset to Get Through Nursing School Nursing school is challenging. I experienced some truly trying times during school. It was stressful and often intimidating. There were moments when I questioned myself, but my goal was clear - I wanted to get through and pass with excellence. I was not the strongest test taker, and I struggled with retaining information because of my dyslexia. That meant I couldn't study the way everyone else did. I had to develop strategies that worked for me. I had to review material multiple times, practice questions daily, and push through frustration when things didn't stick the first time. I knew I would have to work harder than many of my peers. And I did. There were long nights. There were moments of doubt. But there was also determination. I refused to let my learning differences define my outcome. If I can do it, so can you. Your challenges do not disqualify you. They may require you to work differently. They may require discipline, structure, and resilience. But they do not determine your ceiling. Success is not about being the smartest person in the room. It is about endurance, strategy, and refusing to quit. And that is something you can control. There's no way around the long hours, high stakes, and constant pressure-but your mindset can make the difference between struggling to survive and thriving throughout the program.
