Filled with information, but....

This book has exactly what I was looking for: a history of African empires. However, I knocked off a star because it is loaded with misspellings. For example, monarchs' and place names could be spelled three very different ways in the same paragraph, so I need to Google each name to get the correct one. The book needs a thorough proofing: on one page I counted 13 errors. This is very distracting, but if you can get past that, I would definitely recommend this book because a good history of precolonial Africa is extremely difficult to find. The history is not told through white people's eyes and white impressions of it, or how African history affected white people. Also, both kings and queens are covered in detail; you just need to keep a phone or computer handy to check all proper names.
