Novena to our lady of Ransom

In the Christian tradition, the word ransom carries a profound spiritual meaning that goes far beyond the idea of paying a price for freedom. At its deepest level, it recalls the redeeming sacrifice of Christ, who offered His life as a ransom for many (cf. Mark 10:45), liberating humanity from the bondage of sin and death. The devotion to Our Lady of Ransom grew from this same spirit of liberation, portraying Mary as a compassionate Mother who intercedes for her children and leads them to true freedom in Christ. Historically, this title was closely linked with the foundation of the Mercedarian Order, whose mission was to redeem Christian captives and bring them back to safety.
