Book Overview

Critically acclaimed author Minerva Spencer brings a rebellious spirit to historical romance with a vibrant debut series about a new generation of Regency renegades who subvert the social expectations of the day and carve out their own paths in life.

Spencer employs humor, intelligence, and wit to weave the tale of an unapologetically opinionated lady and an effortlessly charming rogue...

Starts off reasonably then deteriorates into rubbish

This book had the seeds of something decent, but introduce a leading man who is a total sleaze, a so called suffrage who is a total pushover, a ridiculously convoluted plot without humor or style, and this is what you get.

Notorious (Rebels of the Ton #1) BookishFirst Impression of Notorious by Minerva Spencer

I am really enjoying all the characters in this story so far and look forward to reading more. I particularly look forward to reading more about Drusilla Clare and Gabriel Marlington and seeing how things will develop between them as the story continues.

Sassy fun, just like the cover!

First off, I love this cover! It is gorgeous and sassy, just like Drusilla (at least once the miscommunications were figured out in this book). It did put me off, right at first with the sniping between Gabriel and Drusilla during their interactions before the unfortunate incident that required them to get married. Drusilla in particular was very sharp tongued, almost hateful (even though she had been secretly in love with Gabriel for years). I liked them a lot better when they began to show their real feelings and gently teased each other instead and got along, despite the secret that Gabriel had been hiding. Lord Visel is a jerk for what he and his cohorts do to the lovely couple. I look forward to seeing his comeuppance in the next book in this series. This was a fun little novel and I would not mind continuing the series to see the next "Rebel of the Ton".
