Katrina with a Positive View

I was so happy to see a book published that actually showed a positive slant on what happened to St. Bernard Parish specifically during Katrina. I lived in St. Bernard when Katrina hit (and would still be there if my job hadn't relocated) and am eternally grateful to all the volunteers that helped us recover. It's just overwhelming to know how much people came to help us and are still helping us, when they didn't know us at all! God Bless You all!

Everyone should read this book

I heard about this book on the st bernard forum when the author announced she'd written a book on her experience. I know from reading the forum and hearsay around here she's done a hell of alot. She got that damn taco bell bordered up. And just recently its been torn down. Thats not all shes done to help us. The list goes on. She deserves so much more recognition. Not only for her book, but for her passion and generosity in helping us. She's our big time movie star that put our parish on the map. CaliluvsNO, I thank you for opening up your heart. And your book, i read it in just a few hours. I think the best book to come out about da parish. Big hugs to you.

INSPIRING REFLECTION

A moving narrative of a California volunteer who rushed to provide aid to those devastated by Katrina, but found "Nothing But Love" from the people of St. Bernard Parish.

Nothing But Love

I read the book in two afternoons.(if I would have had more time the first afternoon, I would have finished it then. It was that good). I absolutely loved it! I will admit that some of it was hard to read as so many have suffered so much. And for most of us, life went on as normal having no idea of how that part of the world was obliterated. And it just went on, and on, and on., for miles. Reading through the author's eyes gave you a true sense of what it was like in the aftermath. The true character of the people of New Orlean's has shown through. Thank goodness that there are people like the author that are willing to stick their necks out and reach out to so many, on a continuing basis. An excellent story told. I so very much enjoyed it.

Nothing but Love is filled with Everything...especially Hope

The author's experience of the devastation and loss caused by Katrina is very touching. It is especially poignant because of the perspective she brings to telling the story of rebuilding an entire forgotten Parish. J.Baker Young could be Any-Mom-USA, and through her compassion and her desire to help others, she found a way to do more than most of us would ever dream of. She saw an injustice and got up off of the couch and DID something. This book recounts her heartwrenching, and ultimately heart warming, journey of helping the residents of Saint Bernard Parish repair their homes and lives, and all the while reminding the rest of us that it only takes one person to make a difference. Thank you for the reminder...and the inspiration.
