EXCELLENT!!!

Excellent reference for old west saloons, bars, taverns, & pubs in Colorado!! A really neat book. The author features great B & W photos of each saloon. In addition, she also talks about the history of the saloons. What's really cool about this book, and which is different from a lot of other comparable books out there, is that the author actually visited each and every one of the saloons listed in the book. I like the fact that the author has many historical old saloons listed that I have never even heard of before; such as: The Buck Snort Saloon in Sphinx Park, Bruce's Bar in Severance, Doc Holliday's Saloon in Glenwood Springs, Pine Gables in Green Mountain Falls, Gus' Tavern and the Coor's Tavern in Pueblo. She also features: The Golden Bee and the Phantom Canyon Brewing Company in Colorado Springs, Kate's in Canon City, Zeke's Place in Victor, Buckhorn Exchange and Wyncoop Brewery in Denver, the Hungry Toad in Boulder, the Old Town Pub and the Tugboat Grill & Pub in Steamboat Springs, Antler's Bar in Yampa, Little Bear Tavern in Evergreen, The Red Ram in Georgetown, the Gold Coin Saloon and the Face Bar (at the Teller House) in Central City, Buffalo Bar & Grill in Idaho Springs, Silver Dollar Saloon in Leadville, Victoria Tavern in Salida, Red Onion in Aspen, Old miner's Inn in Creede, Kochevar's in Crested Butte, Diamond Belle Saloon and Handlebars Saloon in Durango. FYI: Keep in mind that this book was published in 1995. So, some of these places may no longer be operating, etc..... Currently, I know that the Red Onion in Aspen is currently closed (hopefully only temporarily). I hope that the author writes an update to this book; and perhaps also add some new saloons that were not featured in the 1st edition.

Great guide book for unusual pubs all over Colorado

After reading this wonderful little book, my husband and I have started using this book for suggestions on day trips from the Teller County area. We have enjoyed some great beers and good food as well as atmosphere.
