Walter's life is unexpectedly turned upside down when his mother heads to New Mexico for a quick trip to settle his grandmother's estate. His stay with friends is interrupted when, according to Walter's Aunt Dina, his mother dies in a car accident. To Walter's surprise Aunt Dina hasn't been honest with him and he is compelled to go on a journey to find the truth about what has happened to his mother. With some new friends to help him out, and a notebook full of letters from his mother, Walter makes the journey from Colorado to New Mexico. During his trek he faces peril, conspiracy, and, sometimes, spiritual wonder. Can he make it, or will his fear overcome him?
