These quasi-memoir entries begin in late September 2008 in Italy and continue until September 2010. The first volume is now being published, and the second volume will be made available to interested readers thereafter. In fact, this entire collection is devoted to the period of my life in Italy.
During these two years, significant events occurred in our homeland. Perhaps the most important of these was the presidential election in the spring of 2009, followed by the emergence of the "Green Movement," which has gained considerable global recognition. In my view, this movement still continues in various forms beneath the surface of Iranian society; its ideals and unmet demands have become more radical and are being expressed at deeper levels.
For this reason, by way of emphasis, I have chosen the main title of this collection in connection with the great Green Movement: "Notes of the Green Movement," although additional phrases also accompany this main title. The second volume will carry the same title.
Some of the major and lasting events of this period, along with the individuals involved, are reflected in these reports. However, other aspects of those events were not captured in these notes at the time, for various reasons (including lack of awareness of their occurrence). Additionally, a number of events from the eight-year presidency of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad are also reflected in this series of notes.
This period was, in fact, the darkest and most disastrous era in the history of the Islamic Republic (up to now); a time that brought nothing but decay, darkness, destruction, and disgrace for Iran, the Iranian people, and even for the Islamic Republic itself.
