Notes From Under a Drowning Sky

By Jasper M Jones

Nine-year-old Fern is left to fend for themself in a world ravaged by climate collapse. It's all they've ever known. The drowned wilderness may be inching towards recovery, but humanity's reign is over, and the forest watches Fern's every move, weighing up the consequences of the child's survival. When a foraging expedition leads to an unlikely encounter, everything changes. In a heart-wrenching message of standing up for what's right, this post-apocalyptic short story delves into the fragility - and strength - of humankind.
