a book on beading, not a picture book

you have to be able to read, (rhymes with bead!) to be able to benefit from this book, but if you do, and are willing, benefit you will. A charming little book, especially for someone in the earlier beading stages. But if you're someone who wants one of those books with lots of glossy color pictures, well, forget it. This book is not for you. there are an entire series of these "not your mama's (insert whatever)" and most of them are very good. They are all pretty much the same - cute and informative written word but no color pics.

Great Book on Beading!

I got this book as a gift, and I wasn't sure if I would have time to take up beading. But I opened the book up and started reading, and couldn't put it down! The first section--a sort of history of beads and beading--is not only very engaging and informative, it's laugh-out-loud funny. This author should write textbooks. I'm convinced she could make any subject interesting, humorous, and fun to read. I had no idea that there were so many different ways to string beads. This book covers all you need to know, and the steps and processes are laid out clearly (with tons of illustrations and diagrams) and communicated in chatty language that makes you feel like the author is right there with you, helping you along. I can't wait until Not Your Mama's Stitching comes out, by this same author.
