I enjoyed the structure of the book - history of granny squares, basic granny square pattern, ideas, basic stitches - but there was a lot to be desired. I have fairly good crochet skills, but had to rely on my mom who taught crochet and the internet to decipher quite a bit of missing directions. Having paid full price for this book and still needing significant external support to sleuth out what the author intended was rather disappointing. The patterns are nice concepts, but don't buy this book expecting complete instructions. For example, there's no explicit instructions on where to put the sleeves of the Diana Coat and you'll need four pieces for the sleeves rather than two (which is what the total count for squares and triangles implies). You can figure things out with a bit of detective work, but most of it isn't clearly stated. I desperately want to love this book, but I'm simply too frustrated to do so.
