I am an 8+yr, 3x ovarian cancer survivor facing my 3rd recurrence, chemo is on my horizon. Fortunately, I have very few complaints about my care and those were minor. The worst, a PA gently hinted my pain could be imaginary imaginary - suffice it to say I expressed my opinion of her suspicion in an extremely assertive way - tests confirmed my symptoms. Tina's emphasis on how we MUST be our best advocates as we may be our only advocate cannot be emphasized enough. You don't always have to be rude but you absolutely cannot be a pushover. Although her physical experience is nothing like mine and perhaps may never be, her description of how difficult and painful cancer and it's treatments can be is very well defined and is universal in the cancer world. I donated my first copy to the woman's cancer center where I am treated but recently ordered this copy as a reference in writing my own memoir. I highly recommend this book to not only those with cancer but also to caregivers. But be prepared for raw truth.
