Sage Nakamura formed the band Kashi-sei to model visibility and acceptance. He brought together Yamamoto Haru, Watanabe (Way) Wayuu, and Suzuki Zen to change the face of J-pop.

The J-pop industry has traumatized Way. Despite being an idol, he struggles with self-worth and his hidden nonbinary identity. He joined Kashi-sei partly because he owes an enormous debt to his brutal former manager, but the band also allows Way to perform with his crush, the charismatic Suzuki Zen.

Zen is fiercely protective, driven by his own past trauma in the music industry to take care of his sister and deeply in love with Way.
