Mark McMillan is a commercial fisherman and guide on his uncle's hunting concession, north of The Dome on Alaska's Kenai Peninsula. Texas hunters murder his uncle and try to kill Mark to keep him from solving a mystery, which he must solve in the next ten days. Mark discovers the key to solving the mystery is in a poem his great grandfather wrote during the Alaskan gold rush. The poem describes why he and his brother fled Texas over a century earlier, and what they did after they arrived in Alaska. This is a fast-paced, ten-day, action story featuring suspense, murder, a very unorthodox romance and an even more unorthodox conclusion.
