I got my copy of the book from Ralph Himmelsbach himself. With a little effort, you can find his address and send him $15 dollars for a new, autographed copy, rather than spending $200+ from some rip-off artists on here. The book itself is not without it's flaws. One gets the feeling sometimes that Himmelsbach is letting his emotions dictate the story. However, it's amazing in revealing the details of this crime. For those who don't know, in 1971, a man who went by the alias Dan Cooper hijacked a passenger plane and ransomed it for $200,000 before parachuting out in mid-flight. No trace of him was ever found, and it was 9 years before any of the ransom turned up - a little more than $5000 was unearthed in a riverbed in Washington in 1980, severely damaged and still bound together. Himmelsbach details the crime itself, and the immediate flurry of the intial investigation. That is, before the case eventually goes cold and public interest wanes. Himmelsbach reveals his personal thoughts on the crime and the man, having no respect or admiration for him, and decries Cooper's folk hero status. For the uninitiated, this is a great place to start learning about the history of the D.B. Cooper case.
