Sweet and endearing illustrations to classic verse

There are so many options available for those in search of the classic verse of Lewis Carroll. Other offerings provide a better variety of Carroll's work, but I bought this book for the illustrations. They are quite traditional and classic in style; many with a sweet and endearing quality. The colours are rich and the work finely detailed. This book presents a very refined walrus complete with epaulettes. A delishious bathing crocodile with shower cap; a caterpillar with a love of shoes; regal badgers and kingfishers and a very cute (though not particularly fierce) jabberwocky. If you love Lewis Carroll and already have a collection, this may be one to add along with Nicki Palins Owls and Pussycats should the illustrations suit your taste. With about a dozen verses, this is not a particularly extensive body of Carroll's work but beautiful illustrations for what is offered compensates for the breadth.
