"Nodira And Uvaysiy" is an English translation of selected poems by the two great nineteenth century Uzbek women poets. Nodira was a queen of the Khanate of Kokand and an important patron of the arts. Uvaysiy lived in the palace and was at the heart of its poetic life. The translations are by the English poet Andrew Staniland with the help of Nazeela Elmi and Aidakhon Bumatova.
