This is author's fifth Cajun murder mystery set in the fictional St. Beatrice Parish. A partial corpse is found in a drainage canal leading to the bayou. Deputy Lamar LeMarr assists Detective Mitch Lanclos in searching for the rest of the body. Deputy Lamar also searches for answers in a hit-and-run, suspecting that these two events are linked. Deputy Lamar also struggles with personal problems at the same time he is working these cases.
