The story of a 19 year old Airborne Infantryman's return to his home town. The story covers his last few days in Vietnam, his separation from his comrades in arms, and his difficult adjustment to the home that he left a lifetime ago. While this is one man's story, it is in many ways typical of the struggle many vets had when they returned home. The author spent his working life helping veterans in various capacities. Over the course of his work, he became convinced that the reception at home made as much impact on the soldiers coming from Vietnam as the combat did in many ways. The story traces the re-evolution of a eighteen year old high school kid into a hardened nineteen year old, going on forty, combat veteran. Veterans will recognize themselves as the story carries through from the initial separation from his war buddies, to the army paperwork hassles, to the cold reception at home, and finally to seeking affection wherever it can be found. At times sad, at times funny, the story is an honest depiction of one veteran's homecoming.
