ISBN 0373024681 - I often read romance novels for the amusement factor - those phrases that describe quivering, pulsating, etc., in the most ridiculous terms. This book offered none of that, ranking it higher in my eyes than the average romance novel. Lorna is a nurse who needs to take some time off from the pressures of her job at the hospital. She finds a position as nanny to the infant daughter of an unhappily married Kuwaiti couple. Hassan, the husband, runs around with every Western woman who catches his eye. His wife, Dana, is in love with a Western doctor who is back in Kuwait - and who just happens to be Lorna's brother, Allan. Dragged into the situation by her sympathy for Dana and Allan's position, Lorna meets Khalid, the head of the family and a man who believes in many of Kuwait's age-old, sexist rules. How Lorna and Khalid fall in love, how they manage to work out their differences and how the Allan-Dana-Hassan triangle works outs is so much the focus of the story that you'll never see the surprise twist at the end coming. I read every word, which is rare with romance novels. I do wish Clifford had done a little more descriptive writing about Kuwait, or even England, but even without that, the book exceeds what I expect from a romance. - AnnaLovesBooks
