Robert Elliott was born and raised in Glasgow's Southside. He was acutely aware of the presence of violence and the darkness of the city's social climate from a very young age; he was also aware of a power greater than himself and a sense of its providence and care over his life. What he did not know and could never have foreseen, however, was his own immersion in the shadowy valley of the city.
