On August 30, 1995, Ned Levitt's 18-year-old daughter Stacey, a promising poet, was hit and killed by a car as she stepped off a curb. The event threatened the stability of his family, his law career,... This description may be from another edition of this product.
This is a beautifully written book by a bereaved father. Instead of internalizing his grief and becoming bitter, Ned Levitt decided to pursue his daughter's dream in her memory. His descriptions of his grief are raw and honest, and his description of climbing Mt. Ixta will have you cheering out loud for both Ned and Stacey. Stacey has impacted people all over the world-not the tragic fact of her death, but the joy and exuberance with which she approached life. Her father weaves Stacey's poetry through the story of his grief journey, cementing her connection to him even further. As a bereaved grandmother whose mission is to ensure that my granddaughter not be forgotten, I understand Ned Levitt's desire to find a way to share Stacey with the world. He has succeeded, both in his actions and by telling the story. He continues to parent Stacey through his writing and speaking. I strongly recommend this book to anybody seeking to find meaning in loss.

I happened to see the author on TV on a talk show and listened to his story. I am a man, not a father and yet listening to his story, I felt my eyes swell. I was immediately drawn into his life simply listening to him. Within an hour of listening to his story on TV, I went online and ordered his book. I was unable to put it down Its only 187 pages and I read it in hours. YOU WILL CRY! YOU WILL FEEL THE IMPORTANCE OF FAMILY LIFE! YOU WILL FEEL WHAT HE FELT AS A GRIEVING FATHER. I cannot think of any one who would not be able to relate to this man's story, his sense of loss and ultimately how he overcame his grief by doing something truly wonderful. YOU WILL ENJOY IT.
