Joey is the son of aged hippies who has lived off the grid all his life. He and his two brothers live in a house with no plumbing, no electricity, wood heat, and they have never had clothes that didn't come from Good Will. On his 18th birthday he is surprised by a friend who he hasn't seen for a couple of years. Ryan grew up in the same circumstances as Joey but left home right after he was of legal age to do so. Now he and Joey kindle their friendship and Ryan tells him to get out... get out and find a new life. Joey is terrified of leaving home but Ryan convinces him and soon they're living together. Their friendship soon turns to love and then Ryan springs his secret on his new boyfriend.
