finally!!!!!!

I love this book. I'd recommend this book for EVERYONE- and that includes those people out there who still feel uncomfortable around homosexuals. Plus- this is the first junior high book I've read dealing with prejudice against gays and lesbians. What I also like about this book is that it also deals with Janice learning about why other people think their own way; at the end she doesn't say 'Oh, this person is right and that person is wrong.' This is one of the main reasons I like this book.

My Review on the book "No Big Deal"

No Big Deal is about a girl named Janice Green who started hearing rumors about her favorite teacher Mr.P being gay and how all of the sudden someone spray painted the word "faggot" on Mr.P's car. Janice knew who the person was. This book is about how Janice knew she had to stand up for what's right and do the right thing. I think that the book No Big Deal would be a good purchase because it teaches you about homosexual and what they have to go through and it changes your outlook of them because the book gives you a better understanding of their situation, it also teaches you about what goes on in the schools and how it changes and doesn't change the kids in anyway. Don't judge the book by its cover because it looks like a children's book, but everyone all ages should read the book No Big Deal.

valuable book for junior high

This book immediately took me back to 8th grade, when looks and popularity were of utmost importance. All of the issues covered were great- i developed a lot of sympathy for the characters and found myself even infuriorated with some of them. People should read this book for a variety of reasons, regardless of their opinion of homosexuality~ everyone can benefit. i'd give it a higher rating, but the end was too predictable and disappointing.

Involving and Absorbing

When rumors begin to circulate that Janice Green's favorite teacher Mr. Padovano is gay, Janice finds her already strained relationship with her mother challenged when her mother decides to join the campaign to get Mr. P fired. This is a really good book that explores prejudice, discrimination, and relationships between parents and children
