The ending had me in tears!

A good, short, lite mystery-suspense in the Christian Fiction Genre. I really enjoyed this book!

Romantic suspense

"This is a very entertaining inspirational romantic suspense! Very enjoyable!... I like how Ms. Davy focuses on one fundamental lesson rather than diverging into several. Throughout Cali's efforts and struggles Nick has to gently but consistently remind her that God is the one in control of our lives and she has to learn to trust Him in all things. It is done as a natural extension of Nick's character and not at all preachy. This is a good romantic suspense that I think anyone would enjoy as a very satisfying read! Great Read!

"The author has a lovely sense of relationships and humor. One of my favorite scenes is where Cali learns Serena's not the only woman to have vanished. You should have told me about the other women, she shouts in a restaurant, leaving Nick to cope with the islanders misinterpretations and shocked looks. Sparks continue to fly between the two protagonists as attraction vies with distractions. But the redoubtable Mrs. Mayes reminds them, Sometimes God puts people into our lives to help us, and just maybe that's what they're supposed to do for each other. Cali's control issues will be familiar to many readers, the need to be doing something, the need to see it through. She trusts her Dad (a delightful relationship) and slowly she learns to trust Nick even more slowly God. Then a perfect storm of troubles brews an exciting and satisfying climax to the tale. This one's definitely a keeper...." Reviewed by: Sheila Deeth, WRDF Review

Page turner...

Wendy Davy does it again. She has created an awesome suspense story with realistic characters. I was guessing to the end. Every time I thought I knew who the kidnapper was another twist or clue would come to light and I would change my mind. Grab a cup of tea and settle down with this book. You won't be able to put it down until you've read the very last line. This book has Christian overtones but is never preachy.

Fun Inspirational/Romance/Suspense Read!

Cali Steven is holding onto guilt. If only she went with Serena to Coral Isle rather than stay behind to work at the family run newspaper office, perhaps her best-friend wouldn't be missing now. With that strong, motivating force, nothing will stop her from discovering what happened--not even the good looking Sherriff, Nick Justice--who is equally determined to find out what happened not only to Serena but two other women as well. When Nick realizes nothing can dissuade Cali from investigating on her own, he asks her during a news conference to talk to the viewers to make Serena's disappearance real not just some head-line. However, this backfires when it puts Cali in the lime light. The sense of impending danger sky-rockets as the person who took Serena (a serial rapist) enters into Cali's room while she is sleeping and drapes Serena's necklace over a lamp in her hotel room. Will she be the next victim? In an attempt to keep Cali safe, Nick offers her the use on an apartment above his home. His attraction for her grows as he gets to know her better through the investigation, sharing elements of their faith, and now living in close proximity. Frustrated, Nick realizes he needs to keep his head clear so he can focus on the investigation--not on a relationship with Cali that will only end once Serena is found and she leaves for home. Now a storm is brewing, not only over the conflict between his heart and his head, but one on the island as well. People are being encouraged to evacuate. Nick needs to go help folks get off Coral Isle and Cali, unwilling to leave the island while her friend is still there, promises to meet him at the station before dark. When she doesn't show up, he knows something is wrong. And sure enough something is. Serena's in a fight for her life! She finally is able to solve who the serial rapist is--but now he has her trapped. After a series of heart-jerking events ranging from being in the middle of a life threatening storm, being hand-cuffed, in a fire, and more Cali is finally able to contact Nick whom she realizes by now is her safe-haven. This story kept me on my toes the whole time. The plot was interesting but what captivated me the most was the way these well developed characters interacted with each other. They encouraged each other to remember that they have limitations, but that God is bigger than any limitation. I enjoyed how they supported each other in many ways, even prayer, which gave this fictional work non-fiction take-home value for me. Ms. Davey is a talented author and I look forward to reading many more great stories from her in the future!
