Nicholas Maw is one of Britain's most respected composers and his 1982 composition Night Thoughts for Solo Flute is a superb example of his masterful and sensitive writing. The flute is calming and expressive, despite rapid runs, perfectly evoking racing thoughts and quiet contemplative moments of night time.
