Great read

I am a new 7th grade Language Arts teacher. I had to read this book over the summer as this is the first book my classes will be reading. I picked it up, before reading, thinking it was going to be too elementary and boring, but I was certainly wrong. It was a wonderful read and I couldn't put it down until I finished it. The descriptive language really captivated me into the story not to mention the suspense. My 10 year old son, who is an avid reader, loved it too. I can't wait to present this to my class this school year.

Amy's Review For Night Of Fear...

When Tj gets home from school, him and his parents hear that there has been a bank robbery. The robber shot and killed the clerk. That night, there was a school board meeting. Tj's parents didn't want to leave him home alone with his grandmother who has alzheimers. Tj assures his parents they will be fine and his parents decide to go. After Tj's parents leave, he gets a phone call from Mrs. Crowley saying that they won't be home and they want him to feed their animals again. He said that it would be fine and that he would be home in time to watch Top Gun. When Tj and Grandma Ruth go to feed the animals, they go into the barn to see the kittens. When they get in there, a man jumps off of the hay bails and Tj thinks that it is the bank robber and gets scared. The man thinks that Tj will tell somebody about him so he takes Tj with him and leaves Grandma Ruth. Tj and the man get in an old blue truck and drive for a while. After a while, Tj sees some stores and a car, he makes a move and jumps out of the truck. A van pulled up next to him and Tj runs over to it and asks for help. The man in the van didn't want to help Tj so he drove away. Tj spotted a phone booth and ran to it. He realized that it was out of order and then he feels a tap on his shoulder and turns around and it is the man from the barn. When they get back in the truck, Tj asks him what his name is, he said Brody. After a while they go to a gas station and Tj sees a woman inside and runs for help. She was reaching for the phone to help him when Brody came up behind him and lied about Tj being his son. They got back in the truck and left. A little later, they pulled up to a barn. Tj didn't know where they were so he was looking around and when Brody got out of the truck Tj went too. All of a sudden, Tj hears a pony in the barn and goes to see it. Then he sees the barn go up in flames while he is still in it. He rushes to get the pony loose but there is a knot in the rope. Just as they got out the door, the barn collapsed. When the pony was safe and they were back in the truck, Tj began talking to Brody about the past. Brody told him that his father had a store and when he died, he got it. One night the town people went crazy and burned down his store and Brody wanted revenge, so now he goes around burning other peoples buildings. Later on, they come to another building. Inside were some carousel animals worth a lot of money. Brody saved some and lit the building on fire. When Tj saw a house, he ran towards it and got away from Brody and began banging on the door. A lady came to the door and Tj explained. When she looked outside she saw that her building was on fire and ran towards it with some water. Tj went inside and called his dad. When he answered the phone, he explained to his dad what had happened and that he would send the police to get him. About 30 minutes later, Tj was home and noticed that they still hadn't found Grandma Ruth. So, Tj went looking for her. When he got in the w

When TJ's grandmother is stricken with the Alzheimers disease he loses his patience with her. But on the night of a murder and robbery in a nearby town, TJ realizes how much he really cares for his Grandma Ruth. They are kidnapped by the robber and all TJ has is his wits to survive and rescue his Grandmother. This book was very good and full of suspense. I recommend it to all suspense lovers.
