Romantic, erotic and touching, Well-formatted for the Kindle.

This book could best be described as a melding of Beauty and the Beast with Phantom of the Opera. Marissa (Risa) Crane is sixteen when her father asks an architect colleague to redesign their house, and she meets the mysterious Erik D'Anton for the first time. Erik is a recluse whose face was destroyed in the accident which killed his parents when he was a child. Risa becomes fascinated with Erik and,as time passes, draws him out of his solitude. Their shared love of music and increasing love for each other leads to marriage when Risa's father dies after her 18th birthday. Although her love for Erik is deep, Marissa's single-minded need and pushing for a child almost succeeds in pushing Erik, who fears the reaction of a child to his disfigurement, away. This is light romantic novel with strong erotic elements that draws you into it quickly. This is a book that will lead to re-reads for Beauty & the Beast/Phantom of the Opera fans. This edition is well-formatted for reading on the Kindle.

I LOVED it!!

I've read almost every POTO sequel there is. Plus I enjoy books on the same theme of "Erik" and how he lived. Now I have added this to my collection. It's a wonderful book with a great story. It's a real page turner and I cannot imagine anyone NOT enjoying it. It is one of my favorites now.

Habit Forming

First, this is a modern day version of Beauty and the Beast plus Phantom of the Opera. I am a die hard Phantom Phan and have read all the books. This particular book I have read 4 times in a row. I recommended this book to several people. I only wish the author would write a sequel. I asked her and she said no. Too bad, I'd love it. Pianopam

A disfigured man, a sweet young woman, a marvelous romance.

I've read this novel at least 6 times. How can one not fall head over heels in love with dear, anguished, brilliant, reclusive Erik--surely one of the most compelling protagonists in romantic fiction? How can one not share the joy and happiness that he finds with Marisa?Interestingly, there is a secondary plotline, another romance, that is also touching and satisfying. Another wounded man, another loving and nurturing woman (older this time). This is an update of Phantom of the Opera--for all those Beauty/Beast-Phantom/Christine aficionados--and it works beautifully. Erik proves that beauty is something that goes far beyond the superficial. Marisa shows that true love sees beyond the exterior.Do yourself a favor: Read this novel. : )*Mir*

Great Sex!

There is no other author in the world who can write sex scenes like Charlotte Vale Allen! This was a great escape fantasy read because God knows there are no men on this planet as devoted as Erik! She's a gifted writer who can draw you into her stories like a magnet. I highly recommend her books. Illusions is by far my favorite of her books.
