The thought of Friedrich Nietzsche and Martin Heidegger is deeply intertwined, although their philosophical approaches and concerns differ in some respects. He saw Western metaphysics as a way of "hiding" the true meaning of being by reducing human existence to abstract and technical concepts. For Heidegger, Western thought has forgotten being by focusing on being-in-itself.
