Cute, slightly odd

Nicky visits fire fighters at the fire station. It's a bit strange, as Nicky talks with the people and even slides down the fire pole. There are some cute pages where he is hiding in the fire station and becomes friends with the fire dog. At the end, he rushes off to the fire, but the next page he is back home again. It feels like something is missing from the story.
