NGOs and Disaster Management in Central Africa

Gone are the days of state-centrism, when the international stage was dominated by the state as the sole actor in international relations. Since the end of the Cold War, the complexity of the issues facing people has sounded the death knell for the welfare state, paving the way for the emergence of non-state actors (NGOs, multinational corporations, etc.), whose actions counteract, complement, and substantially reinforce the initiatives of states. Moreover, the recurrence of crises, conflicts, and disasters has provided NGOs with fertile ground in the Central African subregion. It is within the framework of this so-called "human rights diplomacy" that this study aims to provide an analytical examination of the concept of human rights in light of NGO activities in disaster management in Central Africa. This study aims to offer a modest reflection on the operational methods of NGOs in disaster management in Central Africa. Similarly, it is important to examine the constraints these organizations face on the ground, along with possible recommendations.
