A receptionist and a CPA, two single people who have just met, feel living in New York City is holding them back. Linda and Albert try to make a go of it in Davenport, Iowa, and in Los Angeles. No longer together, they meet back in New York. Linda has become a dynamo with killer instincts and is now a major player in the movie business. Albert is falling further and further down the ladder of success and, although his love for Linda is overwhelming, he slowly realizes he is no match for her.
