A Classic

Although techniques have come along that differ in some ways, Joyce Howard's are my absolute choice especially in the matter of antiqing. This is using a medium which one can mix or buy mixed and using oil paint. Acrlics are not the end all, and I for one find them inadequate for an appearance of depth. Her instructions may seem pretty general considering all the patterns on the market nowadays, but when she wrote the book that was not at all the case. Her instruction is the important aspect, not an exact pattern to slavishly copy and those instructions are thorough I have owned her book since I was in my teens and she was alive. I didn't like it tnen. As a result I sold it years later at a very high price as it was not being printed anymore. When I found it once more available in the used market, I bought it. One will learn much under Joyce's tutelage.
