"New Skin" is a poetry book with a twist - it goes into the different layers of each poem by providing a short story to reach to the core and expose its naked truth, revealing itself as also a memoir and a self-help book. It is raw, unpolished, disconnected and it dives into the world of our emotions, feelings, thoughts to explore their substance and understand it better. Throughout the book and the poems on each page there is a process of shedding - shedding of light to parts of the human psyche and shedding of illusions, habits, thought patterns. There is a strong sense of loss, paired with the sense of illumination and transformation. The book is an honest development of the author's character and life, but with a creative take that allows us to get away from the rest of the world for a bit, stop existing as a product or a doer and return to being a being by exploring everything that we are made of: the bigger picture - the human form; our family's history - generation after generation; our childhood and adult persona or character; our potential and connection to the whole. "New Skin" goes through it all to bring us our truths or, at least, it is encouraging us to find them and wrap ourselves comfortably in their existence as our brand new skin.
