The New Qinghe Experiment/新清河实验 [Chinese]

A professional team from Tsinghua University has provided a reference model for grassroots research. In the 1920s and 1930s, sociologists Yang Kaidao and Xu Shilian conducted a rural construction experiment in Qinghe Town, located in the northwestern suburbs of present-day Beijing, which they named the "Qinghe Experiment." In 1937, the Japanese army occupied Beijing, forcing the Qinghe Experiment to be interrupted. In 2014, Professor Li Qiang from the Department of Sociology at Tsinghua University's School of Social Sciences led a research team to conduct sociological community studies in the Qinghe area outside Beijing's North Fifth Ring Road, exploring and experimenting with community governance. This initiative is known as the "New Qinghe Experiment." By immersing itself in the community, the New Qinghe Experiment explores grassroots social governance models with Chinese characteristics, generating a series of valuable theoretical insights from a sociological perspective.
