New Motorcycle Riders: After School Training

So many people take introductory motorcycle safety courses only to go home and say, what now? Many are unsure and have a lack of confidence. This book is here to help with that. Information overload is common when learning to ride a motorcycle. Everybody has an opinion and they all think their opinion is correct. I keep it simple so you can retain the necessary information to be a safe and responsible rider. In this follow up to, New Motorcycle Riders "Motorcycling For Beginners", I get into the basics of riding on the streets. When learning how to ride you will probably hear lots of advice and opinions from well-intentioned, misinformed people. Let's be honest, this book is not intended to make you the next Isle of Mann contestant or stunt rider. It's about understanding the safe and practical principals of riding. I see so many new riders watching professional riders and trying to learn professional riding techniques which are performed in controlled environments. The question is why? There's plenty of videos and people out there showing you how well they can handle a motorcycle, but what does that have to do with you? Unless you plan on being a motorcycle cop or stunt rider then it is all merely entertainment. There's plenty of time for all that other stuff later, but first let's get a good understanding of the principals of motorcycling and get you through the basics and on the road. Let's clear our heads and get in the game. You are Joe or Mary who is getting on their motorcycle to go from point A to point B safely. That is what we will concentrate on in this book. As an everyday motorcyclist there's nothing controlled about the environment you will be riding in. Practice will make you better prepared to deal with circumstances, but you cannot practice for everything that you may encounter on the road. This book is a supplement to your introductory motorcycle safety course. Nothing can replace actual seat time on your motorcycle so get out of your head and start riding.
