New Millennium Economics is a three series book written to conform to the recently revised economics curricular in line with the New Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) objective by the Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC). Some topics in the exiting curricular were repealed and new contemporary topics have been incorporated. This new development has rendered the traditional and existing textbooks grossly inadequate in terms of contents coverage and in approach. Also, the dynamic and ever changing pattern of examination questions by relevant examination bodies, W.A.E.C, NECO, NABTEB, G.C.E and J.A.M.B has called for a great concern. All these has informed our decision to develop a highly quality text material which will be a true reflection of the new curricular. The book is learner centred and in line with best global practices. The topics have been carefully and exhaustively treated to stimulate the learners' interest and questions are asked in line with SSSCE, NECO, JAMB, NABTEB and WASSCE standards. Practice, Assessment and Revision questions are set at the end of every chapter and general practice questions including Multiple Choice Questions at the end of whole chapters to ensure that topics are extensively revised and help to monitor learners' level of progress in preparation for their terminal examinations. The language employed are simple and clear to accommodate the time pressures on students and teachers thereby making the concept taught rather interesting than abstract. It is in the light of the forgoing we strongly recommend these text materials to schools and other stakeholders for use The recent pronouncement by the Federal Ministry of Education through her agency Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC) on education reform and the urgent necessity it requires to attain the New Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and National Economic Empowerment and Development Strategies (NEEDs) with the central aim of using education as a tool for political, social, cultural and economic empowerment makes it necessary to revisit and re-examine the existing curricula for the Senior Secondary Schools with a view of re-structuring it so as to fit into the new education reform agenda. And also, to acquaint modern economics students with other central issues such as entrepreneurial skills, value orientation, peace and dialogue, human rights education, family/HIV/AIDS education etc which are embodiments of the contents of the new Senior Secondary School curriculum.
