The route runs as a 3.59-mile (5.78 km) long four-lane bypass of Hightstown from County Route 571 at Windsor Center to the four-lane New Jersey Route 33 east of Hightstown. The bypass connects the two highways with the New Jersey Turnpike (Interstate 95) at exit 8, west around the north side of Hightstown and U.S. Route 130. Although Route 133 is a freeway, it has no direct connections to any other freeways as the connection to the Turnpike at Route 33 leads through several traffic lights.
