"Aw, low card again." said William. He had been losing a lot at that game, lately. As William reached to grab the plate, the old man turned and looked right at him, eye to eye.

"Do you boys wanna hear a story?"

William froze. "Sure." William squeaked, his mouth trembling.

George cautiously leaned in to hear the man's words, but to make sure not to get too close.

Old Man Stephen began his tale, "During the war my friends and I would draw cards, just like you boys. But, for us low man would mean being in the front of the line."

George stammered, "Wha, wha, what line?"
