This is a thorough compendium of crochet stitches and their many possible combinations. I have other patterns created by this author and am glad to have been able to add this book to my library.

This book is an amazing treasury of crochet stitches and designs. In my opinion the best part is the information on how to do jacquard crochet. The author invented a "new" stitch, "extended single crochet" to facilitate jacquard crochet. If you have been disappointed with the crochet patterns that are typically available because they lack colorwork, or if you have ever envied knitters for the scope of colorwork patterns available to them, you will be delighted to discover this technique. The book also contains many different stitch patterns for basic stitches, lace stitches, filet crochet, monograms/alphabets, and more. The majority of the book is dedicated to these, but there are a few patterns for garments and accessories as well. My favorites are the shawl patterns, which are lovely and stylish.I have to warn you that at first glance this book looks like a typical late 70's early 80's craft book- it lacks some of the panache that more recent craft books have. It has some color pages but most are black and white; some of the designs, although appealing to the hippie/boho set, seem dated; I rate it 5 stars despite this because of the quality of the technical information in the book. This is information that you will be hard-pressed to find elsewhere and in my opinion the book is an amazing find.
