A teacher's review

After seven years of teaching English as a foreign language, I have to say that this is my favorite textbook. The combination of interesting texts with realistic listening exercises and practical grammar gives students exposure to authentic English in realistic settings. Jigsaw communication activities assure that students have real information to convey to one another. Much of the vocabulary development requires that students actively seek words they need to discuss the topic -- hard to test but it helps with retention. The prominence of small group discussions and communication activities does make the book better suited to mixed language groups, but this is not an insurmountable obstacle.
