This work traces the history of the first sixty years of the mixed company in charge of social housing in New Caledonia. The Soci t Immobili re de la Nouvelle-Cal donie (SICNC) was created in 1956 under the name Cr dit de la Nouvelle-Cal donie. Cr dit de la Nouvelle-Cal donie sets itself three objectives: housing assistance, production assistance and social assistance. In 1963, it became the Soci t Immobili re et de Cr dit de la Nouvelle-Cal donie (SICNC). In 1988, the credit branch became BCI and the real estate part became Soci t Immobili re de Nouvelle-Cal donie (SIC). It is assigned two objectives: to improve the living conditions of the 10,000 Caledonians housed in the existing housing stock, and to build new housing while promoting social diversity. The SIC advocates "deco-housing" and the transfer of residents from "squats" to highly subsidized social housing. In 2016, the SIC celebrates its sixtieth anniversary and continues its policy of construction and management of an impressive social housing stock. The objective remains decent housing for all families in difficulty, both in greater Noum a and on customary lands.
