It is the Year 205 AA (After Asteroid) and the island of New Atlantis is the only life-sustaining place on Earth - at least, this is what the New Atlantian people have been led to believe by their Government. They are forbidden to leave their utopian island home, and their contact with the Old World is limited to their view of the Mainland, supposedly a dead landmass, which skims the horizon whispering of endless space and new beginnings.
Seventeen-year-old Genna Grey is well-indoctrinated in the Island's social mores; her world is small, and her life revolves around her neighbour and best friend, Parker Scott, for whom her feelings run deeper than friendship.
