In Never Too Old, Blanche Harriman investigates the unexpected death of an old friend she was to meet for breakfast in their posh Santa Fe retirement home. Something about the suddenness of the death nags at her. After all, they'd just been planning a trip to Cozumel for a sky-diving adventure. Blanche is determined to learn more about what happened and in the process encounters a number of dubious characters -- a greedy stockbroker nephew, a smarmy minister fond of collecting "stray souls and stray bank accounts," a scheming relative of her housekeeper, and a couple of ambition-driven staff members. She enlists the help of other feisty seniors, even one who is wheelchair-bound. Blanche also flirts with a retired banker who she feels has a "certain lan" despite his paunch and coke-bottle glasses.
