Emma never knew her life would change when she met Hunter Walsh (The captain of the football team). She also never knew that someone like him would be interested in someone like her. She was a loner, a nobody that no one would pay attention to, a nobody that was consistently picked on daily by the cool kids. That is until Hunter came along and defended her and stopped her daily torment from ever happening again. He hated bullies and everyone knew it, so when he was around Emma, everyone left her alone.

Hunter tried many times to get Emma to go out with him and was very persistent about it, but Emma was unsure and afraid. Afraid to allow someone like Hunter to fall for a girl like her. After graduation he knew he would be leaving soon because he had joined the United States Coast Guard and wanted to spend one last night with her before he deployed the next morning. She agreed and he spoiled her with romance to make their relationship stronger before he left and made her feel like she was the most beautiful gem on earth. But when the tide came in, they knew it was time to leave and before they parted ways, he made a promise to her that he would return when his tour was over. With tears in her eyes, she nodded as she got into her car and drove away watching Hunter fade away in her mirror.

Three months later Emma finds out she's pregnant and has no idea how to tell him or where he is. With great panic she calls her best friend Lilly for advice as Lilly assures her that she's going to be okay. But will she be? And how will Hunter react when he finally returns from his enlistment and finds out he has a child? Will he be mad, or learn to love the special gift that was placed into his life?
