This is a very solid book that covers a lot of ground. Includes referential and troubleshooting information for Ethernet, ATM, Frame Relay, and other media. A good balance of in-depth information, good/descriptive graphics, and good lists of probable troubleshooting causes. He also gives a thorough introduction to the different diagnostic tools available, and has a lot of extra referential stuff in the back.I think the book is easy to understand and much more detailed and complete than a lot of other troubleshooting books that I've seen out there. If you are into serious troubleshooting, I'd invest in this book.
Must have for real world troubleshooting!

This book is the first I have seen to cover all! LAN and WAN technologies and the first to get right to the point of troubleshooting. It lists hundreds of symptoms and root causes for networking problems! An incredible resource. A more extensive index would have been nice. - However, a must have "travel and survival" kit for everyone in networking.
The troubleshooting sections were excellent!

The troubleshooting sections were excellent. Each section can be read from start to finish, or specific chapters can be used as a reference when working on a particular problem (token ring problem, Ethernet problem, etc.). The use of "Symptom and Causes" is great, and the summaries at the end of each chapter listing the most frequent causes of problems provide a good overview of what could be wrong.
