I recently used this book for my Network + exam review-this book has some excellent questions and great, short explanations. I would recommend getting the Mike Meyers Network + certification book in conjunction with this book.
Great resource

I went over the questions in this book along with a free test on the web and passed with a 900/900. A major part of my current job is networking so I already knew a lot, but I needed to brush up on some of the older material that I hadn't dealt with in years. This had a lot of good information and explained why the answers were correct.

The Test, Just the Test

The Network + certification by CompTIA is an internationally accepted validation that an individual has a basic background and understanding of at least the basic information regarding networking. And this book is basically a cram guide on passing the test. It does not give a great deal of general background information, instead the book consists of some 800 questions of the type that will be on the COMPTIA examination. The book, like the test, is broken down into four areas: Media and Topologies, Protocols and Standards, Network Implementation, Network Support. Finally there is a section on the nature of the test itself. With this book you'll be able to identify the areas in which you need to study a bit more, and you'll be as ready as anyone else to take the test when it's in front of you. If you know the answers to these questions, and you don't freeze when the test is in front of you, you won't have any problems.
Great reference material

I recently discovered that the Network+ exam was going to the 2005+ syllabus, and given my nine-year career in IT, I thought it bennificial to certify in a vendor independent exam. The book itself contains 800+ questions, and while some questions are redundant, it's an excellent resource. All the bases are covered, and there are abbreviated explinations below every question. There is the companion reference guide to this book, and I would probably recommend those that are new in IT to purchace that guide in conjunction with this Q & A book. For those that are experience in IT and want straight forward questions (and relying on your Google-fu skills for additional data), this book is all you will need.
