Nereus

Before World War Two in Hong Kong, a Greek ship owner known as Nereus, fathers four daughters by four different women. Just ahead of the developing war his ship captains rescue the daughters and transport them to Elysium, his sanctuary in the Virgin Islands. There they are raised in a strange environment by Greek nannies and private tutors until they depart to attend college. After 1945, Nereus rebuilds his decimated fleet and becomes a covert operative for the Central Intelligence Agency. By 1965 much of his fleet is involved in electronic surveillance on the Saigon River. The daughters become successful professionals, each with their own career. But they also become free spirits and promiscuous. In 1965 they return for Christmas with four consorts whom Nereus finds unacceptable. So he sets out to find them suitable husbands. Along the way, Nereus and his daughters undertake a project that is resisted by corrupt politicians, organized crime, the Soviet KGB, terrorists and chauvinists.
