He was supposed to be a myth. But from the moment I crossed the River Styx and fell under his dark spell...he was, quite simply, mine.*A scorchingly hot modern retelling of Hades and Persephone that's... This description may be from another edition of this product.
I actually enjoyed very little with this book. The romance is, of course, spicy. But... what was the point of the story? Definitely didn't like any of the characters, to be honest. I mean, was it an election or some type of lottery? I don't understand. And it really just jumped into the spice waaay too soon. I wouldn't recommend this book to someone in all honesty.
4.5 stars!!!

Oh. My. Gods. I loved this. Great modern take on Hades/Persephone. I was super interested how they were going to portray the 6 seeds for 6 months aspect of the original mythology and it was an interesting bargain for sure. The spice was HOTT. Who doesn't love a consent king. It had all the feels. My favorite stories have me on emotional roller coasters and this one didn't disappoint. If you're a Rhysand or Xaden fan you're going to adore Hades!! These are definitely going to be on my physical shelf soon... I prob won't even wait to read em all first LOL
Nope. Not great. I’d skip this one.

I would not recommend this book to ANYONE. I would most likely do the opposite and dissuade someone who wanted to read it. This “modern retelling” is hardly that. How are you going to turn Zeus, from an Olympian God into a “title” that is passed down through the generations. That makes absolutely no sense. Other than naming them after Olympian Gods, you don’t really see them being Gods.
The characters are incredibly shallow, there’s no hint of studying actually mythology to make their personality.
This book may have been better if they chose another theme, a more modern one to match the people.
It is what it is, but I would not recommend it.
Not bad for a retelling.

I was a but worried jumping into a book like this, I didn't expect to be drawn in at any point! The story could of used more to it, The characters lacked something and i just dont know what it was. The book felt like it was more smut than anything, im not used to that at all, I felt the characters only cared for the deed more than they cared for their own life and such. The book keep dragging many times and I just wanted to skip but I pulled through finishing the story.
Worst book I have ever read.

We read this book for book club from various Tiktok reccommendations but it was so bad, every person in our group hated it. So on the brightside, we had a lot to talk about. The plot was advertised as a spin on the Hades/Persephone story with a bit of fun smut. But the characters were sorely lacking and only truly paralleled the Greek mythology by the use of their names sprinkled in. It was more of a mafia story than mythology retelling. The plot line was so bland and even disappointing towards the end. The number of times this man carried the main character was tiresome. She tried to play a strong damsel but ultimately came across as a weak and annoying girl with no true depth. It was an easy read and the spicy scenes were very BDSM-like but it seemed so flat. I'm not sure why I read the epilogue, but it was laughable and completely pointless. If you are looking for a great story, look elsewhere.

Not for the faint of heart but it’s a quick read. I read the eBook version of this and then had to buy the paperback copy for my bookshelf. It’s easily one of my top 2021 reads.
Read it in a day
